Creamy Mapo Tofu Udon

Crazy to think that a staple like the mapo tofu can be prepared differently. This tiktok-inspired recipe is an easy dish that can be found in your pantry.

Creamy Mapo Tofu Udon

Pork Seasonings

  • 1 lbs Ground Pork
  • 1 tbsp Garlic (Minced)
  • 1 tsp Gochugaru
  • 1 tsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper

Mapo Sauce

  • 1 tbsp Doubanjiang
  • 1 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Oyster Sauce
  • 1/2 tbsp White Sugar
  • 1/4 Cup Water
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch (+ 3 tbsp Water (1:3 ratio))

Creamed Tofu

  • 70 g Tofu
  • 2 tbsp Peanut Butter
  • 4 tbsp Milk
  1. Mix pork, garlic, gochugaru, rice vinegar, salt and pepper in a bowl. Set it aside.

  2. In a pan, heat a light drizzle of oil. Once heated, add your pork. Make sure pork gets brokened up. Use a spatula.

  3. While pork is cooking, add your doubanjiang, soy sauce, oyster sauce, white sugar and water to another bowl.

  4. Once pork is cooked through, add your mapo seasoning in the pan. Mix everything together. It should be liquid.

  5. When it starts boiling, leave it for 2 minutes and reduce heat. Afterwards, add your cornstarch slurry.

  6. Mix until when the sauce gets on your spatula and you pass your finger through, the liquid doesn't collapse on itself. Your sauce is done.

  7. Add tofu, peanut butter and milk to a magic blender. Mix until it has a thich consitency. If its too thick, add 1 tsp of milk at a time. If its too thin, 1/4 tsp peanut butter.

  8. Cook your udon noodles according to the package. Once everything done, assemble your bowl. Enjoy!
